Call for bids to host APAIE 2009 The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) invites bids to host APAIE CONFERENCE 2009. APAIE was officially launched in March 2006 during the inaugural APAIE Conference in Seoul, Korea. APAIE aims to achieve greater cooperation amongst institutions of higher learning in the Asia Pacific and to promote international programs, activities, and exchanges for the advancement of the region. In this regard, APAIE conference will serve as a 'golden opportunity' for the promotion of higher education across Asia-Pacific region and beyond. .... CALL FOR NOMINATIONS ON BOARD OF DIRECTORS of APAIE The Nominations Committee of APAIE calls for nominations on Board of Directors. Article V of the Charter of the Association, as below, states that there are up to 18 seats for BOD including a president and two vice presidents, to be elected by the general membership. As of March 2007, we have 9 elected members on the Board continuing their services from the Founding Committee. Steering Committee, in place of Nomination Committee, will oversee the nomination and election process in 2007. .... The 2nd Steering Committee held in Singapore, 15-17 October 2006 The second APAIE Steering Committee meeting was held at National University of Singapore, 16 ~ 17 October 2006. National University of Singapore hosted this preparatory meeting on their campus as they are the host of 2nd conference to be held in next March.... President Doo-Hee Lee in Perth, Australia Prof. Doo-Hee Lee, the President of the Association and Vice President for Development and External Affairs of Korea University, attended the Australian International Education Association’s Conference held in Perrh, Australia from 10 October 2006. This AIEC/IDP Conference is one of the biggest international education conference in Australia with some 900 participatns from Oceania and the world. An information session on the 2007 APAIE Conference in Singapore was given by Prof. Lee on Thursday, 12 October 2006. In addition to these activities, APAIE promoted the Association and Conference 2007 at the booth shared with Korea University.
