APAIE CONFERENCE 2008
The Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) invites bids to host APAIE CONFERENCE 2008.


ABOUT APAIE

APAIE was officially launched in March 2006 during the inaugural APAIE Conference in Seoul, Korea. APAIE aims to achieve greater cooperation amongst institutions of higher learning in the Asia Pacific and to promote international programs, activities, and exchanges for the advancement of the region.


Members of APAIE are those who:

  Aspire to develop a wide range of relevant programs and projects for their mutual benefit

  Participate in initiatives developed by APAIE and work towards the common goals of the association

  Achieve a high level of professionalism

  Innovate to develop creative and useful projects

  Educate and share with each other good practices and policies and work towards making effective use of the views of its members with regards to international education

APAIE CONFERENCE

The APAIE Conference is held on an annual basis and aims to share more emerging trends in international education and exchange as well as offer plenty of networking opportunities.



APAIE Conference 2006

The first APAIE Conference was held in Seoul, Korea from 29 ? 31 March 2006. The theme of the conference was ¡°The Trends and Changes in Asia Pacific Higher Education¡±. Hosted by Korea University, the inaugural conference drew some 380 participants from 145 institutions across 26 different countries. In addition, 32 institutions participated in an exhibition on 30 ? 31 March which was held in conjunction with the conference.


APAIE Conference 2007


The second APAIE Conference will be held in Singapore from 7? 9 March 2007. Hosted by National University of Singapore, the conference aims to attract over 700 local and overseas participants with a theme entitled ¡°Asia-Pacific Renaissance in Higher Education¡±.


INVITATION TO BID

Institutions can now bid to host APAIE Conference 2008. You may send a letter indicating your interest to host APAIE Conference 2008 to Ms Jeongmin Lee, Executive Director of the APAIE Secretariat, at ljeongmin@korea.ac.kr. The deadline is October 10, 2006.


Useful Information
1. The annual conference is usually held over a three-day period in March and it is typically from Wednesday to Friday.

2. The theme of the conference will be jointly decided by the host institution and the Conference Planning Committee.

3. The usual format of the conference will be:
  Day 1 Day 2 Day 3
8 am - 9 am Registration Registration  
9 am - 5.30 pm Pre-conference Workshop Opening Ceremony followed by Conference Sessions. Conference Sessions followed by APAIE Annual
Concurrent sessions are possible. General Meeting at 4 pm.
  Set-up for Exhibition Exhibition Exhibition/Tear-down
7 pm - 10 pm Welcome Dinner Social Program Closing Reception
  1 Lunch and 2 Coffee Breaks are provided per day over the three-day period
 
4. In the past, the host institutions have sponsored the following aspects of the conference:
(i) Venue Facilities include auditorium, meeting/workshop rooms, exhibition area, coffee break area, dining rooms, business centre and secretariat room.

(ii) Catering for lunches, coffee breaks and dinners

(iii) Equipment for auditorium, meeting/workshop rooms, business centre and secretariat room

(iv) Photographic and videocamera services

(v) Local transport

The final sponsorship arrangement will be determined through discussions among the host institution, APAIE secretariat and APAIE Board of Directors.

Please send a letter indicating the interest of hosting the APAIE Conference in 2008 to Ms. Jeongmin Lee, Executive Director of the APAIE Secretariat at ljeongmin@korea.ac.kr by 10 October 2006 to be considered.
