Call for Nominations on
Board of Directors of the Asia-Pacific Association
for International Education (APAIE)

The Nominations Committee of APAIE calls for nominations on Board of Directors.

| It was the recommendation of the Nomination Committee that the election could not be held at the Second Annual General Meeting on 9 March because all nominations did not meet the requirements stated in the Call. It was approved by the Board of Directors. |

Article V of the Charter of the Association, as below, states that there are up to 18 seats for BOD including a president and two vice presidents, to be elected by the general membership. As of March 2007, we have 9 elected members on the Board continuing their services from the Founding Committee. Steering Committee, in place of Nomination Committee, will oversee the nomination and election process in 2007.

Article V Board of Directors

1. |
The Board of Directors consists of up to 20 full members of the Association. These include: |
|
|
a. |
The President and two vice presidents, elected by members of the Board of Directors; |
|
|
b. |
The immediate past president; |
|
|
c. |
A representatative from the hosting institution of the Secretariat; |
|
|
d. |
And up to 15 additional members, elected by the Membership at the General Meeting. |

According to Bylaws, nomination and election procedure are as follows:
Nomination Procedure

|
|
|
- |
A call for Nominations for any elected position of APAIE leadership must be issued by the Nominations Committee to the General Membership at least 60 days prior to any elections. |
|
|
|
|
- |
Self-nominations and second party nominations by current members may be accepted. |
|
|
|
|
- |
Nominations must be supported in writing by two additional current members of the association from institutions other than the home institution of the nominee. |
|
|
|
|
- |
Current members of APAIE may hold either personal or institutional membership.
|
|
|
|
|
- |
To be considered, nominations must be completed with all required documents by the specified deadline in the Call for Nominations.

|
|
|
|
- |
When the nomination is received, it must show that the nomination has been endorsed in writing by an appropriate senior administrator from the nominee's home institution.

|
|
|
|
- |
Any current member of APAIE may nominate any other current member for election.
|
|
Election Procedure
|
|
|
|
|
|
According to Bylaws carried by Board of Directors, the election will take place as follows:

|
|
- |
The Call for Nominations must state the manner in which the elections should take place.
|
|
|
|
|
- |
After reviewing all nominations received at a Nomination Committee meeting, the Committee will recommend them to General Membership.
|

|
|
|
- |
It was agreed that General Membership will electronically vote on the slate of nominees forwarded by the Nominations Committee.

|
|
|
- |
An electronic voting will be conducted using an electronic voting program and the result will be announced on the APAIE website . |
|
|
|
|
- |
Elections will be valid only if valid votes have been returned by at least one quarter of the Membership. |
|
The required documents are as follows:
- Nomination Form for Nominee of the current membership
- Two Nomination Forms for two supporters from different institutions.
- One Confirmation form from an appropriate senior administrator from the Nominee¡¯s home institution
- The Nominee's CV with a photo
¡Ø You may use your own form of confirmation that must show that the nomination has been endorsed in writing to support the participation at Board meetings.
¡Ø You can download the nomination form (for nominee and nominators) from the website www.apaie.org. And please feel free to refer to By-laws on Election and the Charter of the Association linked to the website as well.
¡Ø The nominator who supports the nominee can send the nomination form for nominator directly to Mr. Albert Wonsuk CHOI. Or the nominator can send the form to the nominee and then the nominee can collect the nomination form from the supporters and send it to Mr. Albert Wonsuk CHOI.
All nominations must be received by Mr. Albert Wonsuk CHOI, the Executive Director of the Secretariat, via e-mail to won7301@korea.ac.kr or by fax +82-2-922-5820 no later than 24 June, 2007 (Korean standard time) with all required documents included.
